G'day everybody
In the previous few days I have been posting on the vyak forum (http://www.vyak.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21656 about an aquayak ranger which was recommended that I stay away from it which sparked a big conversation about another yak for me which was the ride 115 but I decided if I were to get a ride I would upgrade to the x model. I have dealership that I will hopefully getting over to before Christmas. They do not run test runs but I am confident that this is the right yak for my uses. I am upgrade from a BCF glide mahi sit on top which is small and tippy.
I have joined that yak shed as I would really love another opinion. I am 13 years of age, and 174 cm tall.
I would like a fair bit of capacity and a wide platform for standing.
I will mainly be fishing enclosed dams and sometimes rivers and very seldom saltwater water but when I do it will also be river and bays.
I fish central west nsw for Murray cod and yellowbelly most of the time.

There are no test paddles at the dealership so I was hoping that people could recommend it on what they have got or have used.
Cheers Jack

Hi Jack,

Looks nice. How are you going to transport the yak? The specs I looked at said it weighed in at 35kg. I would suggest you post this in the Main section. You are bound to get more response there. Hope this helps.

Jack,
A quick pm to wayned or stevenm would be a good move. I'm pretty sure that they both have used the Ride in the past, chasing the same species as you.
Chris

Sounds like an absolute pig to paddle but an awesome fishing platform once you get where you're going. Not unlike my old yak, the viking tempo. It will probably suit your intended purpose very well, but will not be very versatile. Provided you're confident that's the type of fishing you'll be doing for the foreseeable future then no worries. I will say, a dealership that doesn't provide test paddles is simply not good enough. I'd definitely try to get one on the water before plunking down the cash if I were you. It sounds like it's bloody wide and heavy and you need to make sure you can handle it if the weather turns sour, particularly on an open lake.

WS build solid yaks. These things are more popular in the states for flats fishing but would be ideal for you. Won't be super fast due to wide hull but will be super stable

Not sure what they retail for though
